Week after week, I notice key players suffer at the hands of lag, and I used to be the same. Most of you only lag in important fights like the Coils of Bahamut, but I used to lag when I was crafting. Not anymore.
On 28th March 2014 I purchased a powerline ethernet adapter: a set of two plugs with ethernet ports that uses your mains power as an ethernet bridge. One unit plugs into the router, and the other unit plugs into the plug closest to your system.
Since that day, I haven't lagged once.
There are generally two types: one with an AC Pass Through, and one without. The AC Pass Through is generally more expensive, but worth it if you don't have an abundance of sockets, because you can plug anything into it and you don't lose a socket.
The one I got has since doubled in price and is for British plugs, so I'll just tell you what I typed into Amazon:
"powerline ethernet adapter".
If you spend £30-£40 on anything this year (apart from Heavensward of course), I'd definitely recommend one of these. It'll completely transform your game if you suffer from lag.
(For reference, the exact powerline ethernet adapter I got was this one.)
i got one of those ages ago but i can never get it to work properly xD but thats probably because i have many extension cables between my pc and my wifi router's socket… I hate lag!
Mine seems to be a slight improvement during high traffic times, but gives me 90k errors more frequently, i do have mine plugged into an extension instead of directly into a plug socket, I'm thinking about getting a pass-through that can go into a main plug socket without losing any socket space.
